Bulletin Week 6, Term 1
Welcome to the Week 6 Parent Bulletin. Parent Teacher Interviews are planned for Week 8. Each parent will soon receive an email via Operoo, to book interview times. This will provide parents an opportunity to pass on information about their child and for class teachers discuss how students are performing at school so far this year. Term 1 Parent Teacher Interviews are compulsory for all parents.
All parents and grandparents are invited to the rescheduled Year 5/6 Assembly this Friday, 10th March at 2:40pm in the Learning Centre. We look forward to hearing about what they have been learning about.

In 2023, St. James will be offering mid year enrolments. If your child turns 5 before 31st October 2023, they can start school at St. James in Term 3, 2023 and the school fees are free. Children starting in Reception mid-year will have a minimum of 6 terms in Reception. Enrolments are also open for the beginning of 2024. Please contact the school and register your interest and to book a discovery tour. Children who turn 5 on or before 30th April can begin school in Term 1 of 2024. Please let friends and family know that enrolments are open for Mid Year, 2023 and for the beginning of 2024.
Volunteers are highly valued at St. James School and they make wonderful contributions towards our school including School Board, Parents and Friends, Tuckshop, Uniform Sales, Working Bees, Catering and Woodchops, just to name a few.
On Tuesday 14th March at 6pm, half an hour before the P&F AGM, an induction for volunteers will be run. All volunteers will need to be re-inducted this year, as the school has had a major change to the site, with the new building now in use. The induction will take up to 30 minutes. We hope to see you there. New volunteers are always welcome.
St James P&F sends a warm welcome to all new & existing parents & caregivers for 2023. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any ideas, suggestions or questions about how P & F works. We encourage all those who are interested to jump onboard with any of our initiatives and to have fun along the way.
Our next P&F meeting will start with the AGM. This will take place on Tuesday 14th March at 6:30pm after the volunteer induction.
All positions are declared vacant
We are looking for a Secretary & some new Committee members.
Existing and new committee members are welcome to nominate.
Everyone is welcome to attend. The AGM is followed by a short general meeting.

The School Board AGM is scheduled for Monday 20th March at 7.30pm. All parents are warmly invited and encouraged to attend the AGM. This is an opportunity to find out more about what happens in our school and contribute to our community consultation, which will direct our future school improvement plans. Board members are elected for two years, with an option for re-election for two further tenures with a maximum of six years.
Some of our Board members will be completing their terms so there are vacancies which need to be filled as follows:
- Sara Clark (Chairperson) will step down after completing a 4 year term
- Vanessa Duke (Secretary) has served for two years and is eligible for re-nomination
We have 2 vacancies for our School Board.
Continuing Board members include;
- James Redden (Vice Chairperson)
- Luke Clark (Treasurer)
- Kelly Kelly (Committee)
- Ben Home (Committee)
- Fr. Brian Mathews
- Belinda Heness (Parent and Friends Representative)
Attached to the Bulletin email you will find a School Board nomination return slip, to be returned to the school office in an envelope marked Confidential for Principal. I ask all parents to consider nominating a parent to join the board or to nominate themselves.

We have a small and dedicated group of helpers that have been setting up the Pop Up Op Shop. More helpers are required. The team meets each Tuesday at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall to unpack donations and displays the items for sale. People generally help for 1, 2 or 3 hours each week. Working in this team is a great social evening and a lot of fun. Many hands make light work. If you would like to help out at a different time, please contact the office staff to arrange access to the Church Hall.
Contributing to the Op Shop is a concrete way that our school practices sustainability and raises funds for all students. Last year, this event raised over $7,500 dollars. Funds will be going towards the new playground that will be installed after Easter and for classroom resources for your children. If you would like to assist, please contact the office staff or Bel Heness on 0427 641 476.
Donations can be left at the front of the Church Hall by the entrance door.
The Pop Up Op Shop will be trading on;

-
Saturday 25th March – 9:00am to 4:00pm
